Overview
This test measures the rate of gastric emptying of a solid meal.
Indications
Functional gastric dysmotility
Gastric Emptying
A Gastric Emptying study involves the use of a small amount of radioactive
material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
You will be positioned next to a special detector called a gamma camera. The
camera does not produce any radiation. It will be placed close to the part of
your body being imaged.

Patient Preparation
No food or drink after midnight. Nothing by mouth for at least 12 hours.
Procedure
You will be asked to consume scrambled eggs with medication mixed into the meal. Painless images will be obtained for approximately 2 hours.
