Overview
This test is used to evaluate the renal collecting system for possible obstruction.

Renal with Lasix (Renal Flow/Function/Images)
A Renal Study with Lasix involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
You will be positioned next to a special detector called a gamma camera. The camera does not produce any radiation. It will be placed close to the part of your body being imaged.
Patient Preparation
Hydrate before injection.
Procedure
An I.V. of Saline will be started to assure proper hydration. A urinary catheter may be placed to assure your comfort throughout the procedure. A small amount of radioactive material and Lasix (a diuretic) will be injected into a vein in your arm. Painless Images will be obtained for approximately 60 minutes.
